Chronology of cameras Graflex

This Speed Graphic is of the latest version released in 1947 because it features a sliding telescopic sports viewfinder and the edge of the camera is adorned with a decorative metal strip.

The format is 8.5 x 10.5 cm.

The lens on board is a Kodak Ektar 4.5/127 mm equipped with a central shutter, Kodak No. 2 Supermatic with speeds ranging from 1/10 to 1/400, B, T. It also comes with the classic focal plane shutter with 24 speeds from 1/10 to 1/1000, depending on the 6 curtain travel speeds and the 4 curtain slit widths.

Focusing can be done with the coupled rangefinder moving the lens board or directly on the ground glass at the back of the chamber. This ground glass, mounted on a movable frame, moves back to load the film holder.

The top viewfinder is equipped with a rotating eyepiece to compensate for parallax.

When using this camera and seeing American war photographers, one understands Robert Capa's choice to use a Contax for his work.
